Overview

Google is hosting their very first Product Inclusion & Equity Summit on October 5-6, 2023 in Sunnyvale, CA. The summit will bring together students and professionals from across industries and areas of study who are committed to creating products that are inclusive and equitable for everyone.

The Product Inclusion & Equity Summit is a two-day experience where students will learn from experts and professionals across various industries on how to build with equity at the forefront.

Day 1: On the first day of the summit, students will have the chance to learn from experts and professionals on the importance and process of inclusive design.

Day 2: On Day 2 of the summit, students will work in a collaborative fashion and engage in student-focused, interactive activities by putting their new skills to the test by working on hands-on projects.

Eligibility

  • A current undergraduate student at a 2 year or 4 year college / university or a graduate student
  • A legal resident of, and physically located in, the 50 United States or the District of Columbia
  • Must be 18 years or older

Prizes: There are two categories of prizes:

  • Category 1 - Google-Funded: A total of (10) winners will be awarded attendance to the Product Inclusion & Equity Summit on October 5-6, 2023. Travel expenses (transportation and accommodation) and breakfast and lunch during summit days will be covered by Google.

  • Category 2 - Non-Google Funded: Up to (50) winners will be awarded attendance to the Product Inclusion & Equity Summit on October 5-6, 2023. Breakfast and lunch during summit days will be covered by Google. Award will not include travel, transportation, accommodation, or any other expenses.

Application Process: Students who are interested in applying will be asked to complete an online application process which includes:

  • General background information (e.g. contact information and details about your current university)
  • Written responses to (2) essay prompts
  • Resume/CV (optional)

Recipients will be selected based on demonstration of leadership skills via academic, extracurricular activities, or employment, passion for equity and inclusion, and how well essays demonstrate interest in advancing equitable outcomes for all. Review the full contest rules for more information.

  • Update as of 8/15/23: Clarification on the Contest Rules - The top 10 entries that receive the highest overall scores among entrants will be selected as the potential winner(s) of Category 1 prizes. The top 11-60 entries that receive the highest overall scores among entrants will be selected as the potential winner(s) of Category 2 prizes.

When will the Product Inclusion & Equity Summit take place?

The Summit will take place in early October in Sunnyvale, CA.

When will I find out if I’ve been selected?

We will review all applications after the application closes on August 15, 2023. Selected applicants will undergo a background screening process. Please note, if you are selected to attend the summit, we will ask for an unofficial transcript to verify your eligibility. We’ll be reaching out to all students to notify them of our decision by the second week of September.
